Addiction Expert

Doug Thorburn, EA, CFP
Founder,
Prevent Tragedy
Foundation

Doug Thorburn has been told that his ability to spot alcoholism where it has never before been suspected is unique. Addiction experts, some with over 30 years experience, admit that they did not previously possess the tools with which to identify early-stage alcoholism. Doug not only explains the biological and behavioral differences between early- and latter stage alcoholism, but also provides over 150 questions for the observer to use to tentatively diagnose this disease. Experts and lay persons alike now have the ability to protect themselves and, in many cases, prevent tragedy.

Doug has authored four books on the subject. His first, Drunks, Drugs & Debits: How to Recognize Addicts and Avoid Financial Abuse is believed to be the most comprehensive ever written on alcoholism. It is the only book to link alcohol and other drug addiction to the financial abuse of others. It is the first of four, all authored by Doug Thorburn, to describe alcoholism in a way that allows observers to identify it near its inception. Addiction experts and authors Terence T. Gorski, Katherine Ketcham, Claudia Black, James Graham, Douglas Talbott, Forest Tennant and others have praised his work and courage in coming from outside the field to revolutionize it from within.

For the first time, Doug is available for one-on-one consultations in the area of addiction recognition, in particular with respect to how such conditions, left unchecked, can result in devastating financial losses for all involved. Doug also suggests actions that should be taken once this disease is identified, with the goal of protecting others and assisting the addict to a far quicker and higher bottom than has previously been possible.

Doug Thorburn is available for public and organization speaking engagements and for commissioned writing assignments.
